Is it Really Time for School??

Moving to Ohio = going back to school a little earlier than we were used to. On August 19th we the kids went to their new school. Savannah started Kindergarten this year, but didn't have to go on the 19th because the first few days are for testing the kids. So it was Tristen and Makayla off to school that morning. They were both very nervous. It isn't easy being the new kids in school but I think that for a first day....things went pretty well.

A tradition started back in WA - thanks to some awesome neighbors - and so we decided that we were going to keep it going with our family. Cookies and milk were waiting for the kids when they got off the bus.Now back in WA there were tons of kids that all participated in this but we don't know very many here. The boy in the picture we actually met at the school bus stop (and his Mom) and they were also knew to the neighborhood so we invited them to come over after school too. We were so glad that they did. Hopefully next year we'll have more kids to enjoy the first day of school with.

This year we also broke out the slip-n-slide for the kids. After cookies and milk they hurried and changed for some water fun.

Hans and I even jumped in and did the slip-n-slide. It has been YEARS since that has happened. It was a lot of fun and I only ended up with a few bruises.

Another of our 1st day back at school traditions is that we always go out to eat. This year we went to Olive Garden. We love sitting around and talking about how their first day went.

This year Hans is back in school too. He went back to work a few days earlier after having a month off. Work will consist of him being a full time student again to get his Masters degree.
