It never really poured rain, but it did get old and we had a good few hours of it before we were going to even start going to bed. I think Tristen was the only one that played in the rain. The rest of the kids kept getting in the tents to stay dry while Hans kept the fire going and started cooking dinner. We did an easy dinner that night. We cooked hot dogs and baked beans in the dutch oven over the fire. Everything was wet so the kids wouldn't sit on the picnic bench to eat. Here is what we all looked like trying to eat our delicious dinner that night. (Nicole - recognize the tent)
After walking around the town for a while we headed over to a fish hatchery. It was really fun. We got to go inside and see how it all works. There was a tub full of small fish that they all got to look into. It was amazing to see how many fish go through there. After that we went outside and looked at some bigger fish (they had some huge ones).
After the fun in town we headed back up to the camp for lunch and yummy S'mores. The kids had so much fun with that. We did some small walks and took a short nap and enjoyed the day there. The kids had fun playing frisbee and catch. It was a great family time together. Sure they drove us nuts from time to time, but we had a lot of fun that weekend. I was glad to come back the next day and get everything cleaned up (and sleep in a bed).

There is something about camping in a rain storm--it can be miserable, but believe me, it will be a memory they won't forget. You guys are great parents for making such fun memories for your kids!
So glad that they finally got their S'mores! :) It's been so fun staying in touch through blogging! Love it!!
I sure hope you guys kept the wood in the tent with you so you didn't have to got to Burger King for breakfast=) I am so glad you guys or more importantly Hans didn't give up on the camping. Wish we were there to go with you all!
