Countdown to Christmas

We all love Christmas time. Part of the kids favorite things to do leading up to Christmas are all our countdowns. The first one is our paper chain. This year while we were making the family one, everyone decided they needed their own for their bedrooms. So now we have 5 paper chains.
Another one of the kids favorite countdowns is our Santa that falls down the Chimney. They all love to pull out the bricks so he can fall down.

Another one we do is to open the flap and read a little passage about the birth of Jesus.

And our last countdown (because we have to have 4 of them - so that all the kids pull or open one thing every night) is our activity countdown. Every night one of the kids pulls a card from the appropriate number and then we do that activity. This is by far the favorite countdown. Here are some of the things that we have done so far this year.

Make paper snowflakes. On this night we had two of the kids friends over and they also made some snowflakes.

An indoor snowball fight. Because we had no snow outside (at the time) we made snowballs out of paper and had such a fun time.

Make a holiday treat. For this one they wanted to make pudding. Sounds a little different, but we were busy and it was easy so we did it. They liked licking the bowl the best!

We have done many more activities, but these are some that we got pictures of. I'll try to get some more downloaded and share. It really has been a lot of fun!

I love all the things you do to countdown to Christmas. We might need to borrow some of those for next year. At least this year we have more Christmas spirit than last year. We were big time scrooges last year.

I loved the Santa coming down the chimney! Where did you get that? We have been really bad about doing our nightly countdowns. Too much going on, I guess. I have really missed it. Glad you are having a fun holiday season!

The indoor snowball fight looked like so much fun--and no frozen fingers!

We found the Santa in the chimney about 7 years ago. We love it. I am amazed that we actually have all the pieces. There have been years that we find a brick here and there a few months after Christmas. The kids really enjoy it.
