Basketball

Basketball season started and it is starting to keep us busy again. It is nice to be indoors though. By the end of the soccer season there were a few cold and wet games. It is nice to sit in a gym and stay warm during practice and games now. All the kids are playing so we have 3 teams again. During the week the practices aren't too bad. We are at the YMCA two nights a week. The only drag is Saturday mornings. We have spent many hours there on those mornings. Usually between 3 or 4 hours. It has started to get kind of old. But on the plus side it sure has been fun to watch them play.

Tristen and Makayla are on the same team again. We joked that instead of putting their names on the back of their jerseys that we would put Thing 1 and Thing 2 - I don't think they liked that. They are both doing really well this season. We love to sit and watch their games because they are at a level where they actually understand what to do and it makes it exciting. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves not to get into the game too much - keep the yelling - I mean cheering - to a normal level.
This is Savannah's second year of basketball and she has improved quite a bit. I remember how funny it was to watch her dribble the ball last year. She would use her whole body to bounce that ball and she had to go pretty slow. She still moves a little slow but she has really improved. She is the timid one on her team but being the cute girl that she is the coaches make sure that she get a good chance to move the ball around and she has even taken a few shots.
Gavin - what can I say. This kid is all boy. He loves running around and he is enjoying his first season playing. He is always looking over at us giving us the thumbs up just to make sure that we are watching him and acknowledging the fact that he is doing a good job.
